Zhang Siqin is an excellent student of the architecture department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts with great humanistic concern, and her work Stitching Space-Shuttling History--Landscape Renewal Design of Dongbianmen Bridge and Ancillary Spaces is based on the concept of ‘Stitching Space-Shuttling History’. Ancillary Spaces‘ uses the theory of ’ephemerality and co-temporality" to link the Ming City Wall site with the modern city, reshaping the slow-moving system and activating the negative space under the bridge through a two-line narrative. The design uses immersive nodes to reproduce the historical layers, transforming the divided zone into a public realm with the spirit of place and the vitality of the citizens, and demonstrating a profound reflection and innovative expression of the urban culture.
