Born in Tete, Mozambique, in 1973, and raised in Portugal, in the Douro Valley, an UNESCO world heritage site (1975 – 2000). Fully graduate in Agricultural Engineering (1997) and Landscape Architecture (2010). Master in Natural Resources Management (2001) and Landscape Architecture (2011). PhD in Environmental Sciences in 2009.
Assistant professor at the Department of Geosciences, Environment and Spatial Planning at the School of Sciences, University of Porto.
Principal Investigator (Head of Research) of the LPDM – Landscape, Planning, Design and Management research group at the Research Center in Biodiversity and Genetic Resources (CIBIO) of the University of Porto.
Main research interests include the Assessment, Planning, Design and Management of Urban forests; Invasive species and Novel Urban ecosystems; Urban green spaces, greenways and urban green infrastructures; Biodiversity patterns in urban environments. Others: Nature-based solutions development for resilient and social inclusive cities; Design and restoration of natural and manmade habitats; Assessment of Landscape visual quality and character sensitivity.
