Cracow Front to the River

The subject of master's thesis is the concept design of the river park in Cracow entitled „Cracow front to the river”. The area of elaboration constitutes left and right riverside of the Vistula, between the Kotlarski bridge and the Dąbie barrage. The progress of the green system of Cracow is primarily based on  the river parks system.  The most important feature of river parks, including the designed one, is environmental protection, preserving  the continuity of greenery in the city and providing ecological corridors.  The river park refers to the idea of greenway, i.e. continuity of the greenery without barriers, mostly linear one, which affects the improvement of the ecological values, but also sets the leisure space. The main assumption of the concept design is a separate development of the two riversides, where the left one fulfils a function of a boulevard, while the right one is an area left for the requirements of a natural greenery progress for the given habitat. The aim is to create a public space designed for rest and recreation for residents of nearby housing estates, students and university employees and also for other users, while preserving the natural character of the greenery of  the riverbanks.
