Kalyna Sparks

Kalyna graduated from the Masters of Architecture at the University of Newcastle (UoN) with Distinction in 2017. Kalyna has a passion for environmental and sustainable design. Her final year University project proposed a closed-loop wastewater treatment system at the juncture between architecture and landscape. The project was nominated for the AIA NSW Student Architecture Award, the ARB Architects Medallion and was presented to Hunter Water.

Kalyna has experience in small architectural and landscape practice and worked as a Research Assistant and tutor at the University of Newcastle. She was involved in the research projects, “Power Plants” and “Honeysuckle Placemaking,” which received an award and commendation respectively at the 2019 Australian Institute of Landscape Architecture (AILA) awards.

Kalyna is a strong advocate in promoting architecture and continues to be involved with UoN and is a Co-Chair of EmAGN Newcastle, working to facilitate a community of information sharing and rapport between practitioners, emerging architects and students.
