NEW NATIONAL BOTANICAL GARDEN OF LIMA: LANDSCAPE MASTERPLAN.

NEW NATIONAL BOTANICAL GARDEN OF LIMA: LANDSCAPE MASTERPLAN.

Final Master Work

Polytechnic University of Valencia, Spain

The project is located in the heart of the megalopolis of Lima, Peru in a complex social, political and cultural context. It intends to address simultaneously two of the city´s main shortcomings: the urban-landscape quality and the absence of metropolitan facilities that contribute to the improvement of the urban ecology and the quality of life of the citizens. The work is presented as landscape and urban design masterplan, structured in two sections: analysis and design. The first section provides a synthesis of the urban-landscape morphology and evolution, studying the environmental and socio-economic relationships in the urban framework and situating the analysis within the context of the project area. The second section includes an architectural, urban and landscape design proposal for a new botanical garden along with potential interventions in the surrounding urban landscape. The proposal seeks to promote the unique culture and diversity of the City, while maintaining balance between nature and city.
