LINES OF CONTOUR AND INTERMEDIATE LANDSCAPES

LINES OF CONTOUR AND INTERMEDIATE LANDSCAPES

Final Master Work

Polytechnic University of Valencia, Spain

The project addresses the transitional space between the small town of Titaguas (Valencia) and the adjacent landscape, responding to various territorial and urban conflicts. Based on a methodology of research by design, the work consists of three phases: analysis or predesign, design, and finally, synthesis or processing of design. The analysis phase consists of the assessment of human factors such as culture, history, and local ways of life, paired with an evaluation of urban morphology and typologies of traditional construction. These elements are analyzed within the broader context of the landscape, including natural features, such as topography, vegetation, hydrology, or risk. The conclusions drawn from the analysis provide the guidelines to support the project phase and its formalization, which is articulated by the dialogue between the cultural landscape and the synthesis between human intervention and the natural environment. Finally, the design proposal is evaluated using sustainability parameters, in terms of functional and visual integration of natural and urban processes.
