La proposta s’emmarca dins del projecte global de l’Anella Verda d’Igualada, que busca generar un conjunt d’itineraris per a vianants i bicicletes en forma de cinturó verd en el perímetre de la ciutat. L’espai natural per on transcorre el camí presentava un estat altament degradat. Va ser objecte d’una intensa activitat extractiva del guix existent en el seu subsòl (guixeres del Claret i del Pelfort). Posteriorment, un cop aquesta activitat va cessar, la zona va ser utilitzada com a estació de transferència dels residus municipals.
El projecte té dos objectius principals: un de connectivitat, assolint la continuïtat d’aquesta anella verda global tot reconeixent les principals visuals sobre la ciutat i Montserrat i generant una seqüencia de zones d’estada. I un segon de recuperació paisatgística i de biodiversitat, establint els elements necessaris per generar una nova dinàmica en el lloc que millori progressivament les seves condicions ambientals mitjançant l’aprofitament de l’aigua.

The project is set within the broader scheme of the Igualada Green Ring, the aim of which is to generate a series of itineraries for pedestrians and bicycles in the form of a green belt round the city’s perimeter. The natural space through which this track runs lies on the northern limit of the city of Igualada and is in a very run-down condition. Intense mining was carried out in the site (El Claret and El Pelfort gypsum mines) and, when the mines closed down, the area was used as a municipal waste transfer station.
The project has two principal objectives:
Connectivity: to ensure the continuity of the city-scale project (Green Ring), as well as recognizing the principal existing landmarks of the city and the mountain of Montserrat and creating rest áreas.
Recovery of the landscape and biodiversity: establishing the necessary elements to generate a new dynamic in the place that will gradually improve its environmental conditions by harnessing the stormwater.
