Sonia Curnier is an Associate Professor of Architectural and Urban Theory at the School of Engineering and Architecture of Fribourg (HEIA-FR) in Switzerland. She has previously held positions at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm, and the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) in Alnarp/Malmö. Her research and teaching explore the production of public space, criticality, transdisciplinary practices, and the experiences of children and youth in urban environments. She is the author of Universal Singular (Birkhäuser, 2023). Since 2015, alongside her academic work, she has maintained an independent practice as a consultant, critic, and curator specializing in urban issues and public space. She is a member of the editorial team of the Landscape Architecture Europe series.
