Urban and rural open spaces network and parks design studio

Politecnico di Milano

This place appears as a KNOT of different fluxes of movements, which give birth to a hot spot of speed and currents given by all the different layers of mobility that cross each other. A condensed space where the transport net leaves few areas to people and where the only big green spaces are enclosed in between the walls fragmenting the zone.

The goal is to connect the three main green areas, which have been disconnected by two of these fluxes, the Naviglio and the railway, without adding a new layer of connection in the already dense context, but STRETCHING THE EXISTING causeway to connect and at the same time maintaining the different features of these three areas. To provide accesses and connection I worked on the BORDER of the project area, that is where this place becomes accessible to people and meet urban pattern, inviting people to enter.

The project is one of the first outcomes of the new international Master in Science in Landscape Architecture _ Land Landscape Heritage by the AUIC School of the Politecnico di Milano. Land Landscape and Heritage puts in a nutshell an original combination of disciplines that are strictly related to the specificity of the Italian and European contexts and contemporary landscape challenges.
