Ban Dung Elderly Care Center

Ban Dung Elderly Care Center is located in Udon Thani province, Thailand. This project provides medical services particularly to elders and shares common green space for local people in Ban Dung district. The design concept is inspired from cultural landscape and way of life of Isan, the Northeastern region of Thailand. The elderly people in Thailand always say, "I want to die where I was born" because they want to spend their last period of their lives where they could remind of their childhood memories such as their old-time places, way of life, and local environment. These things will ease and comfort their minds and especially make them feel happy. The design extracted the cultural landscape of Udon Thani to create scenic landscape vista and spaces for the elderly to experience and feel familiar and relax while they are in this health care facility. Furthermore, the center also offers common green space for local people to spend their leisure time strolling and running on walking tracts, playing on various types sport fields, besides it provides vocational training area for the local to master their skills and sale their goods. The design of this place aims to engage local people with familiar atmosphere and activities and spaces provided, thinks thoroughly and tailor made spaces for the locals to feel tranquil with leaving no one behind.
