Bacatá Ecological Exhibition Park. PEECO Bacatá (by its acronym in Spanish)
Landscape architecture: urban natures
Pontificia Universidad Javeriana
The goal of this exercise is to design a park that will have an exhibition and recreational function, connected with the system of neighboring parks. The project must rescue the environmental memory of this site. The park is called Bacatá in homage to the original indigenous name of Bogotá when its savannah was dominated by wetlands.
PEECO must respond to the natural and social dynamics, respecting the railway line that crosses it. As an exhibition park, it is subject to intense spatial changes. On another time scale, the park must evolve in parallel to the fair and recreational activity.
In this work, the volumes of the buildings proposed, and the plant masses and bodies of water are addressed to the definition of urban spaces mixing nature and artifice. The result will contribute to the improvement of ecosystem services in the sector.
