CREACIÓN DE UNA RUTA ECOHISTÓRICA ENTRE MUDAN I SANDAOLING – TAIWAN

PASANDO POR LOS TÚNELES DE SANDIAOLING Y SANZHUATZI Y UNA NUEVA PASARELA AFERRADA  A LOS ACANTILADOS DEL RIO KEELUNG

En 2018, se convocó un concurso para crear una ruta de senderismo entre Mudan y Sandiaoling que incluye:

 2 túneles ferroviarios históricos

y una conexión, a inventar, para reemplazar un puente arrastrado por las inundaciones.

En respuesta, tomamos una opción clara:

Preservar el paisaje postindustrial en todo su espesor histórico Y ecológico.

Que una obra que requirió tan grandes inversiones sea abandonada a la vegetación y a los murciélagos, con la boca llena de limo y rocas, expresa el poder de los cambios de época.

El paso del tiempo ha producido, a lo largo de este recorrido, cambios ecológicos, atmosféricos, acústicos, cromáticos y luminosos, que son el corazón de nuestra propuesta.

Sin embargo, fuertes intervenciones fueron necesarias para abrir el recorrido al público.

El reto era ocultar los esfuerzos del proyecto y de la obra para dejar que se expresara la antigua infraestructura y el paisaje.

Una materia única, el hierro, repetido al infinito, hace olvidar su presencia 

- El hierro construye un nuevo "ferrocarril".

- Los vacíos entre las barras de hierro dejan ver la acción poderosa de la naturaleza tropical.

Al estirarse y plegarse gradualmente, dibujan el suelo y todos los elementos del mobiliario: barandillas, bancos, aparca bicicletas, puntos kilométricos...

En la penumbra cavernosa del túnel, la iluminación baña el pie de la bóveda, dejando en la penumbra, el intradós donde se cuelgan los murciélagos.

Mientras guía los pasos de los visitantes, revela a través del hierro, las rocas y limos del suelo original.

Esta larga galería subterránea desemboca al pie de un alto pozo de luz natural. Los rayos del sol filtran a través de los árboles colgando de la roca y producen, en contacto con los vapores que exhalan del túnel, una atmósfera irreal de cuento fantástico.

El segundo túnel abre sobre el vacío de las gargantas, al final de una amplia curva. Aquí, un espejo de agua refleja la orilla opuesta. “Dice” el vacío dejado por el puente desaparecido. Desde el interior, la silueta del visitante queda en suspensión entre su reflejo y el fondo vegetal.

Escapándose de un lado, la pasarela continúa el recorrido, en un largo balcón sinuoso, en voladizo sobre el desfiladero. Mientras en los túneles, exploramos la profundidad del suelo, ahora descubrimos la sucesión de los relieves lejanos. Aquí, caminamos sobre el dosel de la exuberante vegetación, entre los árboles más altos que emergen bajo nuestros pies.

CREATION OF AN ECO-HISTORICAL ROUTE BETWEEN MUDAN AND SANDAOLING - TAIWAN 

THROUGH THE SANDIAOLING TUNNEL AND A NEW FOOTBRIDGE FIXED TO THE CLIFFS OF THE KEELUNG RIVER GORGE

In 2018, a competition was launched for the creation of the section between MUDAN and SANDIAOLING, which includes:

2 historical railway tunnels  and a connection to be invented, to replace a bridge that had been washed away.

In response to the competition, we take a clear option: to conserve the post-industrial landscape in all its historical and ecological depth.

The fact that a structure that required so much investment has been abandoned to vegetation and bats, its mouth full of silt and rock, expresses the power of changing times. The passage of time has produced ecological, atmospheric, acoustic, chromatic, and luminous variations along this route, which are at the heart of our proposal.

Despite this attitude of withdrawal in favour of the encountered atmospheres, heavy interventions were necessary to open this route to the public.

The challenge was to conceal the project's efforts to let the ancient structure and the landscape speak for themselves. 

A single material: iron, repeated endlessly, makes one forget its presence.

- the gaps between the bars allow the powerful action of tropical nature to be seen

In the cavernous darkness of the Sandiaoling tunnel,

the lighting bathes the foot of the vault, leaving the intrados, where the bats cling, in semi-darkness.

While guiding the visitors' steps, it reveals the rocks and silts of the original floor under the planking.

This long underground gallery leads to the bottom of a high vertical light well. The sun's rays filter through the foliage of the cliffs and produce, in contact with the vapours exhaling from the tunnel, an unreal atmosphere of a fantastic tale.

The second tunnel opens onto the gorge at the end of a wide curve. There, a water mirror lets the opposite bank penetrate under the vault. It tells us about the void left by the vanished bridge.

From the inside, the visitor's silhouette remains suspended between its own reflection and the plant background.

Deviating to the side, the footbridge attached to the vertical wall of the gorge continues the journey.

After exploring the depth of the ground and, we now discover the succession of distant reliefs from a balcony that follows the sinuosities of the cliff.  Here we walk on the canopy of the luxuriant vegetation, between the highest trees that emerge through the decking.
