Gødvads Nye Samlingspunkt - Gødvad Torv
The New Focal Point of Gødvad - Gødvad Square
Dybkær Skole revitalizes Gødvad with an innovative new town square, creating a lively center of gravity for a diffuse suburb. Located close to the city center, the school connects directly to the town’s sports hall. These two buildings frame the new city center, Gødvad Square, a generous activity zone with play areas and places to sit.
The town square is a part of a larger project, which also involved the schoolyard to the south of Dybkær Skole. Before the school was built, Gødvad was a very decentralized suburb. The location of the school was chosen to create a more lively center of gravity. The town square is on the north side of the school building, and functions both as a public meeting place and as extra play space for the students. The school building connects directly to the town’s sports hall, and together these two buildings frame the new square. The area between the school and the sports hall features a ballfield and other play equipment, benches for sitting, and an eatery available for both students and the public to use. Input from locals strongly influenced the design of this area, because of its function as a part of the new town square.
