LA 303L: Intermediate Landscape Architecture

California State Polytechnic University Pomona

Our studio at Cal Poly Pomona tackled an urban scale design project by looking at the proposed East Los Angeles Biotech corridor. Through a rigorous 15 week site analysis, Community Workshops, field trips to both Seattle WA and Boston MA, our class then used 5 weeks to create a master plan for the proposed Biotech Corridor. For our team, we decided to use the following vision statement for our goal: “Through a thorough research in transportation, landuse, and ecology, our group is proposing to establish a green urban network that will repurpose the existing infrastructure and create a destination that allows the identity
of El Sereno to define the Los Angeles Biotech Corridor. By utilizing a wide means of programmatic spaces that range from Bike Paths, Hiking trails, Mobility Hub, and a Sci-cultural Recycling center.
This proposal will allow residents to better maneuver the local spaces, open new opportunities for Community Engagement , Social Mobility, and continued flourishment and ownership of their community.”             With this in mind, our designs were to reflect the local history and local culture that make El Sereno the unique city that it could become with the integration of the LA Biotech Corridor and our proposed designs.
