
She graduated in architecture from La Sapienza University in Rome (1987) and received her doctorate in architectural projects and design from the University of Naples Federico II (1994). She is a professor of Landscape Architecture at the faculty of architecture of the University of Reggio Calabria, where she has developed her academic activity since 1991. She directed the International IP Erasmus Programme "Changing Landscape. Mediterranean Sensitive Areas Design" between 2008 and 2011. She has taught at numerous universities, including the Barcelona School of Architecture (ETSAB), Pompeu Fabra University (UPF) and the Autonomous University of Barcelona in Spain, the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna, the National School of Architecture in Rabat, Kingston University and the University of Pennsylvania in the United States, among others. She is a member of the expert committee of the European Prize for Urban Public Space.
In her professional work, notable projects include gardens created in Fara in Sabina, Rome, Chaumont-sur-Loire, Canet de Mar and the garden of the Museum of History of Girona. For this last project she received the FAD Architecture Award 2003. For her ephemeral work 'Garden of the Wind' she was awarded first prize at the Festival of Green and Landscape in 2013. Her writings and projects have been published in various magazines, such as Abitare, Arquitectura Viva, L'Urbe, among many others. She is the author of several books on architecture, including Sull'involucro in architettura: Herzog, Nouvel, Perrault, Piano, Prix, Suzuki, Venturí, Wines (Librerie Dedalo 1996), Carme Pinós Arquitecturas (Gustavo Gili, 2015) and Un Altro Mediterraneo (Altralinea, 2015). From 2000 to 2010 she directed the 'Land&Scape' collection (Gustavo Gili), which received a special mention at the FAD Thought and Criticism Awards in 2011.
