Dong Wei, an outstanding female student from the Department of Architecture of the Central Academy of Fine Arts with both historical sentiment and contemporary vision, proposes a strategy of ‘historical response + slow-moving reconstruction + functional implantation’ in her ‘Spatial Reconstruction - Historical Overlay —— Landscape Renewal Design for the Under bridge and Subsidiary Spaces of Desheng men Bridge’ to resolve the conflict between monument preservation and traffic hubs. By sorting out the historical lineage and implanting cultural nodes, the design allows the isolated arrow tower to reintegrate into the city life, not only guarding the spiritual landmark of ‘winning with virtue’, but also activating the social value of the space under the bridge.
