
Architect, Phd, he is Full Professor in Architectural and Urban Composition at the University of Cagliari, member of the Doctorate Board in Civil Engineering and Architecture and director of the Master in Landscape Architecture of the University of Cagliari and of the board of teachers of the PASAP doctorate (National Doctorate in “Mediterranean Archaeological, Historical, Architectural and Landscape Heritage: Integrated systems of knowledge, planning, protection and valorisation”). He has carried out teaching and teaching activities at the University of Sassari, the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, the ESA Ecole Spéciale d'Architecture in Paris, and the Mendrisio Academy of Architecture of the University of Italian Switzerland. From 2003 to 2007, he was editor of the international architecture and urban planning magazine "Parametro" for which he edited the monographic issues The Metropolis of Holland by Luigi Snozzi and New cities between the two wars. He is editor of the "Quaderni del Centro Studi Mediterraneo del Paesaggio" (Libria) and member of the scientific committees of the series "Alleli", "Bianco" (Letteraventidue), and "Confini" (Tab Edizioni), and of the INTERSEZIONI magazine of the National Scientific Society of PROARCH Architectural Design Teachers. Author of books and essays on architecture and landscape, he has explored the issues of post-industrial territories in the books L'Architettura delle Miniere and Re-Mine (Libria); in Modern Urban Heritage (Allemandi), Quartieri e città del Novecento. Da Pessac a Carbonia (Franco Angeli) and Carbonia. Città del Novecento (Skira), he studied modern urban heritage and twentieth-century architecture; in Dialogo sull'insegnamento dell'architettura (Letteraventidue), written with Pierre-Alain Croset and Luigi Snozzi, he developed a reflection on the teaching of design and the learning of architecture. In 2005, he was selected for the Milan Triennale exhibition Ricerca, formazione, Progetto di Architettura. Italian architects under 50. In 2011, he was part of the coordination group of the Carbonia Landscape Machine project, Landscape Award of the Council of Europe. In 2018 and 2020, he participated in the 16th and 17th International Architecture Exhibition of the Venice Biennale.
