Lugano Ringopolitan
Landscape and infrastructure design studio
Politecnico di MIlano
Ringopolitan is a project developed during the first semester for the Landscape and Infrastructure Design Studio. The main idea of the project was connecting the borders of Switzerland and Italy with a system of light infrastructure reserved for bikes, pedestrians and hikers, building a new ring across these two countries, rebranding the Lugano Lake trought this new Ringopolitan Image. The study was understanding how to connect the 40km of coast, trying to recycle and reuse mostly of the existing infrastructures and so make strategic connections in the borders, improving the preexistences and the existing sites in the different areas.
The project is one of the first outcomes of the new international Master in Science in Landscape Architecture _ Land Landscape Heritage by the AUIC School of the Politecnico di Milano. Land Landscape and Heritage puts in a nutshell an original combination of disciplines that are strictly related to the specificity of the Italian and European contexts and contemporary landscape challenges.
