Micro-Regeneration in Dàshílànr Based on Community Building

Micro-Regeneration in Dàshílànr Based on Community Building

Landscape Architecture Design Studio

Beijing Forestry University

Based on the guiding thought of micro-regeneration, this project takes the Dàshílànr area in Beijing, China as an example to explore the way of revitalizing the Hutong in Beijing's old town area, aiming at the coordinated development of space regeneration and community building.

We conducted status surveys and communicated with local residents, the government (neighborhood committees) and design institutes. According to our previous researches and practical experiences, we compiled a handbook, and shared our results with the public through flash mob activities, new media, videos, forums, etc., then adjusted the handbook’s contents based on the feedbacks.

We are looking forward to building a platform for common development which plays the role of communication foundation between residents, tourists, government and professionals. The project is expected to promote communication and be inspiring, so that more people would learn about the abundant and excellent possibilities of urban micro-regeneration projects.
