¨...come to my roof garden¨... between Zen meditation space and monastery.
Canary Islands. Tenerife island; Güimar agricultural Valley. Cultivated landscape from the Atlantic Ocean to the slopes of volcano Teide. Characteristics conditions of sunlight, wind, water and humidity, define the particular climate and landscape of the valley.
The goal is to create a new Zen meditation space in an agricultural private plot. The design arises from the idea to confront the view of the Güímar monastery with another religious space where can practice other types of meditation, and at the same time, where it is posible to contemplate relaxed the wonders of the valley with the horizon of the sea in the distance.
The keys of the landscape and the weather conditions of this valley are studied like a necesary inputs for the project. The Zen meditation space has the capacity to be recycled, reused and moved to other position and other type of terrain. Several types of insects, birds, etc, interact and cohabit with the nearby aromatics plants. The installation allows enjoy this interaction with the nature.

The projected materials are recycled from other parts of the plot. The system builds, with few and cheap materials, a new space into the agricultural plot.
Aromatic and medicinal species are cultivated near of the project area, taking advantage of the presence of a tree Eriobotrya japonica. This tree is inserted in a light structure as a virtual roof remembering the green roofs that come from the Le Corbusier Theory.
Why?...
The proyect is a critical visión against predatory urbanism existing in the Canary Islands. And, at the same time, it is a deep reflection about the benefits of having nature over the roofs.
