Lindevangsparken

Lindevangsparken is a pilot project concerning climate adaption and cloud burst protection together with VANDPLUS (Realdania, Lokale og Anlægsfonden and Naturstyrelsen).

On 2nd July 2011 Frederiksberg experienced an extreme rainfall event, both in regards of volume and intensity. The event caused damaging floods to the neighborhood. It is expected that the frequency of theses extreme events will significantly increase due to climate change.

The project in Lindevangsparken will provide a new solution to ensure that future rain events will not become devastating for the surrounding area. Understanding of the worlds water events has for a long time been misinterpreted, particularly water in the city.

Water in the city is mysterious and surprising; it is lead under the earth in pipes, suddenly appears, is pumped, disappears and then over flows where we don’t expect it.

The project in Lindevangsparken is driven by this exact mind set; that water has no logic or visible cohesion, but when it appears it can be a surprising element. You can measure it and use the knowledge in a positive way. Also using the qualities of water to create a new cultural city life and encourage different activities centered around water in an urban context.
