The sea forest
For the design of the play areas, the guidelines of the preliminary project for the waterfront by the Miralles-Tagliabue studio were followed (the sea, Fellini's imagery, classical antiquity, the Malatesta legacy, the pine forest and the fauna…). Furthermore, the following aspects were considered: 1) reference to the poetics of Gianni Rodari, particularly to nursery rhymes on the sea; 2) high customization of the project and products; 3) accessibility and inclusiveness in the differentiation and plurality of playful paths and functions, in compliance with the EN1176-77 standard; 4) choice of durable materials, respectful of minimum environmental criteria, and which reduce and lower maintenance costs. In 2020 the centenary of the birth of Gianni Rodari was celebrated in Rimini, and the Municipality wanted to pay homage to him by dedicating the play areas of the seafront to him. The games chosen allegorically mimic the stories of Rodari, inserting themselves in a landscape that mimics the "forest of the sea", between maritime pines and sardine shapes.
