Recuperación en el Castillo de Morella

The intervention has allowed not only to consolidate the existing historical masonries, but to make accessible the demolished areas, to show the archaeological finds and hidden factories, to create viewpoints that link it to the territory, to value specific elements of great historical value and, above all, to recover, as a social responsibility with the population, urban areas in the open air inside the Castle that serve as meeting points, social cohesion, spatial articulation, and provide it with habitability and connection between the monument and the urban centre of Morella.

The intervention serves as a meeting and rest during the climb to the Castle, as well as conference venues and outdoor events, where history and landscape come together in harmony. In the same way, the covering of the Pardala Tower or the valorisation of the historical overhanging latrines, has served to be culturally recognized and valued two icons that transcend with the historical importance for the region.

The population of Morella is aware of partial losses of its heritage (such as collapses in the castle itself), due to the lack of resources to be able to face them by the scale of the monument itself.

Spatially, Morella has won with the necessary incorporation of the interior pavements in the areas of Sant Francesc and La Pardala, with local materials, two public squares that serve not only as viewpoint points or rest during the journey up to the Castle, but also for holding outdoor events or conferences.
