SENSORY IITINERARY La Plerera, natural Parc of Montgri, islands of Medes, river Ter
This project is a showcase for landscape driven nature restoration project. It turns a demolition order, a purely and strictly habitat reclamation, into a creative landscape restoration development. The combination of transformation of existing infrastructure and new objects to celebrate the site’s peculiarities, both natural and cultural. It proposes ways to choreograph on-site visitors into a narrative that stimulates the being in nature in an innovative approach to finally question whether erasing and voiding is just as valid as filling in and adding. It includes: - the on site building of 43 unique installations (benches, bird watching area, recreation objects) -the use of 100% natural characteristic material, km zero (solid wood as well as natural fibers from the river Ter - the elimination of invasive exotic species over 5 hectares - the restoration of the site’s orography and natural dynamics - the implementation of a public use project
-the project follows the philosophy of Universal Design
Inspired by this wild landscape, which very well hides a domestication, shaked by the wind that combs a flexible and ethereal vegetation that dances and splashes, eroded by the sun and the sea breeze that rounds the stones and the sea wood. A landscape that hosts a tiny fauna with a more timid presence than that of the birds that visit and nest in it, Domestic-Wild has designed these 12 elements that now contribute to making the Itinerary of the Pletera more accessible. These pieces are handcrafted by Domestic-Wild with local solid oak and cedar wood, combined with wicker plant structures handcrafted by Tramats.cat a couple of artisans based in Torroella de Montgrí.
