RECOVERY OF CAMÍ DE S'EMPEDRAT, IBIZA

TALLER PROJECTES 5

UPC_ETSAB_EEABB

The CAMINS+MURS+AIGUA project aims to restore old mobility within urban nuclei in the Pla de Vila region, specifically in the Talamanca area of Ibiza, Puig d'en Valls, Jesús, and Can Sire. The project focuses on an itinerary that connects these urban centers, with a particular emphasis on the Camí de S'Empedrat. The space comprises three elements: paths, walls, and water.
The existing path is enhanced with new walkways of varying materials depending on their location. During the site visit, sections of walls were discovered, sometimes in ruins or covered in vegetation, which became key elements in the project's structure. Water is also an important element along the route, although finding it naturally in the stream is challenging as it only flows three or four times a year.
The project is divided into two areas and four phases. The URBAN area includes the ESTUARY phase and the TRENCH phase, while the POSTURBAN area encompasses the PATH-STREAM phase and the NATURALIZED phase. The project is summarized through a suggestive drawing featuring a wall, a sheep, and an olive tree.
