On completion of her Architectural degree at UCT Cape Town (1985), Tarna attended the University of Pennsylvania to read her Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture at U. Penn. (1991). Tarna established Tarna Klitzner landscape Architects (TKLA) in 1995 and is appointed as a Full Time Lecturer at the University of Cape Town in the Landscape Architecture, Architecture and Planning Department. (APG UCT) TKLA’s scope of works includes both public and private projects. The office ethos is rooted in providing environments that are conceptualized within an understanding of the given natural/ urban and social environments and endeavour to provide spaces for human interaction that encourage positive engagement within communities and with the broader context of our cities, towns, and natural landscapes. Underpinning ethos are the belief in collaborative interdisciplinary teams and in proactive designs ability to improve and enhance the environments within which we live. TKLA have received several Awards of Excellence from ILASA for their projects and were part of the Eliot Ngxola Architects team placed in the top 10 of the Common Wealth War Graves Memorial 2022 competition in Cape Town.
