If one thing is certain, it is the need to design, build and fully transition to renewable energy systems in the future. In the European context, these are primarily wind energy, solar energy, hydroelectric power and geothermal energy. So far, fossil-fuel-humanity can hardly imagine what this total, long-term conversion actually means. We are still a long way from generating all the energy we use every day from renewable resources. The future ‘power plants of renewable energies’ are our landscapes. And our oceans. The five selected works dare to point to a future of wind energy generation that is currently still widely rejected, but which must and will come. Renewable energy generation will occur almost everywhere, and we must learn to accept this, perhaps even to love it. The selected student works whet our appetite for a sustainable future. The targeted use of AI image generation has proven itself as a conceptual design tool.
