Henri, as one of the three founders of Agence Ter, has been directing landscape and urban design projects in various contexts for 30 years.
Masterplanning and urban design have always been a core theme in the work of Henri, with projects like Strasbourg, Mantes-la-Jolie, PSA, 55 000 ha for Nature, Green Metropolis, ... as just a few examples. Henri is always looking for an interesting interaction between urban and nature and this articulation on different scales. Within the masterplanning processes, Henri attributes an important role to the local stakeholders and the participative trajectory. This allows to restructure the vision into a comprehensive plan accepted by the inhabitants.
Henri also has ample experience with public space design around the world: he directed projects in France (e.g. Lycée Lamour in Nîmes or the watersports park Île de Vaire in Vaires-sur-Marnes), Germany (e.g. Schlossplatz in Karlsruhe, Aqua Magica in Bad Oeyenhausen or the Zollverein Mine in Essen), Spain (Cristina Enea Park in San Sebastian), China (West Meixi Lake Changsha), Los Angeles (Pershing Square) and many other places.
Apart from his office, Henri also directs the Landscape Department of the School of Architecture at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). His academic activities also brought him to Versailles, Barcelona, Vienna, Berlin, Montreal, Queensland as well as Harvard GSD. Henri has also been state consultant, has participated in many juries and has been the president of the French Landscape Architecture Foundation (FFP). These multiple professional activities allow Henri to create comprehensive visions for the complex urban and rural contexts.
Henri has received in 2007 the Grand Prix National du Paysage for his work. This award has been given by the Ministry of Ecology and Sustainable Development of France.
