Marianne Levinsen is one of the most prominent Danish landscape architects of her generation. Her architectural practice embodies a contemporary awareness of the environmental and social challenges in our urban spaces, combined with a comprehensive knowledge of the material and conceptual dimensions of landscape design and urban planning. Since starting her own office in Copenhagen in 2002, Marianne Levinsen has realized a large number of public and private projects and gained wide recognition for her unique sense of place, space and material. Her projects range in scale from large urban master-plans to private gardens, yet always maintaining a focus on the intimate relationship between the human scale and the built environment.

The effects of the climate changes and global warming has a direct impact on architectural practice in general, and landscape architecture in particular. Marianne Levinsen is presently working with several large-scale projects in Denmark developing strategies for flood-proofing of urban areas, finding ways of adapting to the increasing climatic challenges.

Marianne Levinsen has received honorary awards from the Henning Larsen Fund, The Dreyers Fund, and is a recipient of the Eckersberg Medal from the Danish Academy. Along with her architectural practice, she has held a position as a board- member of the Public Art dept. at The Danish National Arts Foundation, and she is a jury member at the Danish Architects Association
