SINthesis, ways of inhabiting city

FADU UBA

SINthesis, is an urban design project course where we propose a theoretical framework based on critical, project and transdisciplinary thinking from the contribution of planning, landscape, specialized engineering in rivers and streams and connectivity, for the construction of a unique urban proposal, from previous sub-projects. In 2020 we developed the Bajo Nuñez case to intervine an area that is not very accessible, due to urban barriers, concession spaces and little coexistence between the  water and the urban fabric. For this, the project seeks to build a diverse urban landscape, with water as the protagonist. Crossing ideas through infrastructures of elevated green bridges that pass over the avenue and the railway. The opening of the Medrano and White streams that are now piped and contaminated, the creation of a multifunctional and remedial urban park on the stream basin, using the floodplain resulting from the geomorphology of the territory in favor. The design of regulatory lagoons is vas a bellows between the overflows of the streams and the city. Finally, the proposal imagines a river port with a station and new spaces on the edge with leisure programs where culture and sport can be combined, attracting users with different interests and ages. In short, a comprehensive design exercise that opens us to a dialogue to face the urban, the landscape, the remediation and the articulation of the urban fabric with the river through different layers that make up the contemporary ways of co-inhabiting the territory.
