Piano del Verde di Lignano Sabbiadoro
Plan del Verde de Lignano Sabbiadoro
Green Plan of Lignano Sabbiadoro
The Green Plan of Lignano Sabbiadoro outlines the strategic guidelines for the development and implementation of the municipality’s green infrastructure and defines design criteria for public green spaces in future urban planning. It promotes a vision of environmental, economic, and social sustainability. The plan incorporates the guidelines of the Regional Landscape Plan regarding the Ecological Network, adapting them to local characteristics and defining strategies that will inform the structural part of the New Urban Plan (Piano Regolatore Generale) currently under development. The reading of the green infrastructure and the biodiversity conservation and enhancement project support sustainability and well-being, focusing on thermal mitigation, pollution reduction, stormwater management, and biodiversity protection. It offers a biophilic vision that integrates nature and architecture for a healthier, more beautiful urban environment.
Based on analytical studies, the Plan develops four strategies:
Street Trees: Urban Green Corridors: establishing green corridors to connect the city with lagoon, sea, and pine forests, including vegetation, permeable paving, and cycling/walking paths (aligned with the upcoming Traffic Plan).
Biodiversity and Ecological Networks: enhancing biodiversity through new ecological connections, dune restoration, biodiversity oases, and buffer zones in protected areas.
Riviera Green Belts: rethinking the green belts in Lignano Pineta, prioritizing green-scape over gray-scape.
Parks and Accessibility: creating new equipped green areas and upgrading existing ones to build a citizen-friendly city.
These strategies aim to create a connective fabric: connectivity and continuity redefine the green infrastructure, placing the ecological network and biodiversity at the core, supporting further actions for public well-being through greater use and accessibility of green areas.
