Riverfront park Río Biobío, Concepción, Chile

The project consists in the creation of a riverside park along a stretch of 2.6 k on the banks of the Biobío River in the city of Concepción. This sector is taken as a project site, due to the various factors over time that have generated a situation of isolation of the city in general, as a green area and space for public use, in addition to the stigma of danger and low interest on the part of the citizens. The aim is to recover the Biobío River as a fundamental part of the history and identity of conception, since at the moment it is not given the value nor does it possess the necessary infrastructure conditions or access for its recognition. It is proposed the use of the riverbank for public use providing it with a program of use, greatly increasing the accesses with the purpose of overcoming the situation of current isolation product of the Nueva Costanera highway that borders the project area. Finally, the ecological rehabilitation of the riverbank is proposed, promoting a process of naturalization of its edges and improving the habitat conditions for flora and fauna.
