Sophie Radich School is located on the edge of the urban Lillestrøm and Nitelva river landscape.

The landscape is divided into two primary zones - the zone near the school and the landscape park. The green areas are differentiated through varied planting, as well as through different play possibilities and other experiences. The school has been designed with high environmental ambitions -  ecological restoration principles in the outdoor areas. The opening of the stream helps to improve the habitat for the animal and insect species found on the site. Surface water is directed along the paths out to the green areas and towards an open stream.

The landscape is organized as a learning space as pedagogical elements are integrated into the outdoor area. In addition to being a place for pupils, the new secondary school is also open to the rest of the city residents and functions as a public park.
