The project of the archeological park. A proposal for the archeological area of Villa Clelia in Imola (Bologna)

Three-year thesis

Alma Mater Studiorum University of Bologna

The archaeological site of Villa Clelia in Imola is currently in a state of decay, with uncultivated vegetation that makes the archaeological finds few visible, compromising its structure.
The aim of the redevelopment project of the area, subject of this thesis, isn’t only attributable to environmental objectives of requalification, but it also aims at the achievement of social and education goals, finalized to involving citizens and to the collaboration with schools for future educational visits.
The goal of designing a new area with the function of 'public park' is that the same area does not become even more crumbling and subject to vandalism. The general idea is to relaunch the space also as a place to socialize and meet people, with the awareness that the historical heritage is an important common good, that must be designed and kept to take it back to the citizens and to the future generations.
It will be an area where people can visit the evidence of the past through a contemporary design project.
