
Dermot is a graduate of UCD, University of Greenwich and Edinburgh College of Art. He founded DFLA in Dublin in 2001. Europe 40-Under-40 in 2010 and an ADAPT-r scholar during his PhD with RMIT University. A founding partner of the EU FP7 research project TURAS and partner with the EU COST Action OBSERVISTA, his practice-based research includes the re-use of construction waste in public space. He teaches and publishes internationally and was an Assistant Professor at UCD until 2024. DFLA’s work can be seen in two monographs – DFLA; Chronologies of Practice at Dermot Foley Landscape Architects (2022) and Artifice (2011).
