Mazzorbo Island: An agricultural village project in the Venetian Lagoon

Mazzorbo Island: An agricultural village project in the Venetian Lagoon

Master degree in Architecture (final disserctation)

Università IUAV di Venezia

Animals have always been part of human life, contributing to its livelihood, helping to carry out work activities or simply keeping company. For this reason they have a fundamental role within a landscape project, which requires particular precautions, aimed at guaranteeing them the necessary comfort and at the same time allowing the inhabitants to enjoy their presence. The area in question concerns the western part of Mazzorbo, starting from its island (Santa Caterina di Mazzorbo) in the west, up to the area surrounding the cemetery.

The goal is the transformation of spaces and activities according to the needs of the three identified customer profiles, providing them with adequate structures and the opportunity to live in close relationship with animals, in an environment in contact with nature. To trace the profiles of three possible subjects who develop the project, the figures of Masanobu Fukuoka, Maria Cheyenne Daprà and Michele Savorgnano are selected, each of whom belongs to different environments and temporal moments, but all three have chosen to change their lives and take care of the land.
