Proyecto Final de Carrera - Catedra Arq. Barrale

Universidad Nacional de Rosario

My project proposes to think over the process of shape determination, taking metaphors as a project material. The “Parque España” and “Club Mitre” under de gully of Rosario central coast are considered the main sites of exploration. The images of the ancient port landscape of the place are taken into account as the Kick-starters materials and also, the pictoric expressions of Xul Solar, especially those that illustrate spontaneous constructions in floodplains. The intention of this project is to create estrangement situations towards the one who perceives the bulding either from the water of form the top of the gully, setting bonds with the pictures of the ancient harbor, the ships, the stilt houses on the island and the pictoric images of Xul Solar. The elaboration of these overlapping images implied a sustain study of the structural and material essence in the constructions referred to. In this way, this building emerges from water making a reinforced concrete platform –by way of the platforms for fuel loading and industrial docks- from which arises a ballon frame structure tipe, widely used in port populations both for housing and infrastructure. This constructive system, consisting of light and small wooden sections, generates accumulation of materials that explodes and amplifies it’s expressive, special and structural aspects. All metaphorical construction entails an effect of estrangement and amplification of the initial materials, melting of elements that they seem not to have any relation, and processes of successive transformation leading to the determination of a “new” product.
