REVEALING NATURE

The study area is located in Thessaloniki, Ano Toumpa. More specifically, it is delimited between the area of the torent of Polygnotos, by Lambraki Street, and ends at the 77th Primary School and 23rd Kindergarden. Firstly, we identified that the access to the study area was not easy. The surrounding area has not been reclaimed to a large extend and also does not serve the needs of the residents of the area. There is also a lack of parking spaces and poor management of the stream bed. The main idea of the synthesis, focuses on approaching humans with nature. The dominant goal of our project is to create spaces, in which visitors will be able to get in touch with nature and also benefit from this interacitve relationship. In other words, the utilization of the green field and, at the same time it's elevation was the main stimulation. Our synthesis offers arable land spaces for visitors, who will have the opportunity to get in touch with the land and exploit it properly. There will be urban equipment, exhibition spaces of plants and also a wooden amphitheatre for screenings, lecutres and entertainment purposes. The two sides of the stream will be connected by bridges. A single route made of compated soil, will continue in secondary routes in the forest. There will be pedestrianization and vegetation enhancement of the surrounding area, as well as new parking spaces.
